Romana Kryzanowska is best known for being a student of Joseph Pilates and his wife Clara. Born in Michigan, Kryzanowska studied ballet at the George Balanchine’s School of American Ballet before suffering an ankle injury that led her to Joseph Pilates. Romana Kryzanowska went on to become the director of Joseph Pilates’ New York City studio and continued to teach the Pilates Method.

Second Generation Instructor

Early in her career, Tonka trained with Romana Kryzanowska, becoming a 2nd generation Pilates instructor. Along with her classical training from Romana Kryzanowska, Tonka has further developed her technique and method by continuing to study the human form and learn how Pilates can benefit people of different skill levels in order to help them overcome injuries, achieve weight loss goals and improve their well-being.
