Manual Therapy Near Ft. Lauderdale

Many folks want to try Pilates to reduce their aches and pains caused by muscular imbalances. Learning that Pilates is not our main healing method may be surprising! At ProPilates, we view Pilates as a complement to Manual Therapy instead of the driving force of recovery because we are interested in why a muscle is not functioning properly during Pilates practice.

Manual therapy is a specialized form of therapy in which a practitioner uses their hands to apply pressure on muscle tissue and align joints to decrease pain caused by muscle spasm, muscle tension and joint dysfunction.

Manual therapy can be quite helpful for joints that lack comfortable mobility and range of motion.

If you have chronic pain, limited mobility, or stiffness, continue reading to learn how manual therapy may help!

Why is Manual Therapy Such an Important Part of the ProPilates Method

We cannot make you STRONGER, more FLEXIBLE, IMPROVE your POSTURE, BALANCE, and COORDINATION or HELP you LOSE WEIGHT when your body is NOT WORKING WELL. And that is simply because when we challenge a dysfunctional body with Pilates exercises no positive changes can be achieved. Contrarily, injuries, joint stiffness, pain, muscle tension and soreness become the outcome of your Pilates practice.

Physical Therapy vs. Manual Therapy

The main DIFFERENCE between PHYSICAL THERAPY and MANUAL THERAPY is the role of the client or patient. With Physical Therapy, Therapists ask patients to perform movements, doing the work themselves to restore optimal function.

During Manual Therapy session the Therapist performs the entire treatment with their hands while you relax in a comfortable position.

Usually minor and even major pain and discomfort come from muscle imbalances, poor body mechanics and dysfunctional movement patterns we accumulate over the years due to physical and emotional TRAUMA, old INJURIES, SURGERIES, and chronic STRESS.

Effective Pain Relief & Muscle Restoration

Our Manual Therapy practitioners expertly manipulate your body and apply pressure to relieve these aches and pains. We manually restore proper muscle and joint function to help relief pain and stiffness instead of stretching your muscles through exercise which is very ineffective and inefficient with short-lived benefits.

At ProPilates, we approach the restoration of proper body function from a quite different perspective. We are interested in why a muscle is not functioning properly because by getting to the root cause of your pain, we can not only help you feel better and more comfortable, but we become more effective and efficient with designing your Pilates Program to make you STRONGER, more FLEXIBLE, with LONGER and LEANNER MUSCLES, while improving your POSTURE and quality of MOVEMENT. Manual therapy uses a practitioner’s hands rather than a device or machine. This hands-on therapy powerfully achieves pain relief goals!
